Loyalty programme ROI calculator

A loyalty programme pays off when the revenue from the extra visits it generates is greater than the cost of the rewards and the tool. Move the sliders using your own business figures to estimate how much a Socios stamp card or points card could earn you each month.

Indicative estimate. Actual results depend on your business and how you use the programme.

How it is calculated

The calculator uses a simple formula:

Extra revenue per month = visits per week × 4.33 × average spend × increase in visits (%)

For example, a café with 300 visits a week, an average spend of €3 and an 8% increase:

300 × 4.33 × €3 × 0.08 ≈ €312 more per month.

Then you need to subtract two costs:

  1. The rewards: with a «9 + 1 free» card, you give away roughly one drink in every ten to customers who complete the card. Use the cost of the product, not its selling price.
  2. The tool: Socios Plus costs €5.99 a month.

The figure the calculator shows is an indicative estimate of gross revenue. The real result depends on your business and on how well you promote the programme.

Benchmarks by industry

Industry Typical frequency of a regular customer Indicative average spend Recommended programme
Cafés and bars 2–5 times a week €2–5 Stamps (8–10)
Bakeries Almost every day €2–4 Stamps (10–12)
Hair salons and barbershops Every 3–6 weeks €12–40 Stamps (4–6)
Beauty salons Every 2–6 weeks €20–60 Stamps (5–6) or points
Restaurants 1–4 times a month €15–40 Points + giveaways
Local shops Weekly €10–50 Points

These are indicative ranges to help you fill in the calculator. Always use your business’s real figures if you have them.

How to improve the result

  • Make the programme visible: a poster with your QR code at the till multiplies sign-ups.
  • Keep the reward within reach: a regular customer should be able to earn it in less than a month.
  • Add a giveaway to encourage visits between one reward and the next.
  • Check your data every month in Socios Plus and adjust the number of stamps or points.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate the ROI of a loyalty programme?

Multiply your weekly visits by 4.33 (the number of weeks in a month), by your average spend and by the increase in visits you expect. Then subtract the cost of the rewards and of the tool.

What increase in visits is realistic?

Industry studies put the effect of a loyalty programme at between 5% and 20% more repeat visits. For a first estimate, 5–8% is a sensible figure.

Does the calculator include the cost of rewards?

No: it shows the gross extra revenue. Subtract the cost of what you give away; with a well-chosen reward, it is usually between 3% and 10% of what the customer spends to earn it.

How much does Socios cost?

The customer app is free. For businesses, Socios Plus comes with a 14-day free trial, after which the Pro Plan costs €5.99 a month, with no long-term contract.
